Greener than grass

BamboofxA new line of high quality men's underwear and loungewear is set to hit the market later this month, as Brisbane company Bamboofx heads to Melbourne to showcase its wares at Fashion Exposed. Bamboofx proprietor Sharon Cogill described the brand's inaugural range as "not only high quality but environmentally thoughtful." 

"All of our 'Skinxwear' range is made from quality Bamboo fibre, which is antibacterial and breathes better than cotton, is a renewable resource and once you've ever worn it, you'll be ruined for anything else," she said.  

"As a new company in Australia we've decided there could be no better launch pad for our product than the Melbourne Fashion Exposed and then Brisbane in September as part of the Going Green Expo. We're fortunate to have a product made from Bamboo fibre, a highly sustainable fabrication. All products are of the highest quality and have been tested on a daily basis for a period of 12 months prior to launch."

The company's long term strategy was to distribute its product through niche retailers, she added.

"Our aim for the future is to look out for the individual trader, the guy down the road who's always prided himself by going the extra yard to look after his loyal clients and offer good old fashion service. We've always believed you should treat others the way you'd like to be treated and what better way than to offer a quality item at an affordable price?"

"We plan to grow our company and along the way create employment opportunities for fellow Australians. We'd like to get involved with sporting sponsorship down the track and as golf is one of our motivators we may start there. We'll work closely with our team and continue to introduce items that yes, look fantastic, but more importantly feel better."

The sustainable qualities of bamboo made it a strong growth opportunity for the clothing industry, she said.  

"It's grass that self-renews super quickly, and it doesn't require the use of harsh chemicals or fertilisers to grow. The fabric is incredibly soft and wicks away moisture and is antibacterial. You couldn't ask for more."
