Sportsgirl's Bourke Street Superflagship store in Melbourne has been short-listed as a finalist in The UK Retail Interiors Awards 2009 in the category of Best International Retail Interior. The store has been listed alongside ten other retail stores from around the world; including Adidas Paris, Fusion Hong Kong, Gina Dubai and Topshop New York.
Launched in September 2008 the store was designed in association with renowned UK architects HMKM as a "living, breathing, meeting space" and brand showcase, featuring a mix of fashion zones intended to take customers on a "sensory shopping adventure".
The winners and finalists in this year's coveted International Retail Interiors Awards will be announced at a Gala Ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London on September 30. The 2009 program incorporates 15 categories including Fashion Retail Interior of the Year, Department Store Interior of the Year, Best VM Solution, Best Small Shop, Best In-Store Restaurant of the Year, Best UK Retail Interior along with the premier award Best International Retail Interior.
Sportsgirl's short listing comes hot on the heels of a prestigious accolade for Naomi Milgrom, executive chair and CEO of Sportsgirl parent The Sussan Group, who has been honoured with the Ernst & Young Southern Region Champion Of Entrepreneurship Award for 2009.
Milgrom is the first female recipient of the Southern Region Champion of Entrepreneurship Award which recognised her as one of Australia's top 25 business leaders, a peerless businesswoman and outstanding entrepreneur.
Sportsgirl is preparing to launch a week of festivities, kicking off today, August 19, to celebrate the opening of its latest Superflagship store at Chadstone shopping centre.
