A UK lingerie label designed to make fuller figured women feel gorgeous is poised to repeat its knockout success on these shores, in the wake of its Australian launch in late 2009.
Kirrily Schimana of Australian distributor KAS Distribution confirmed Curvy Kate lingerie would make its first official Fashion Exposed appearance in Melbourne this August, having launched into the Australian market in September 2009. With around 40 Australian accounts already under its belt, the label hoped to boost its profile at Fashion Exposed, as well as expanding its offer.
"The Curvy Kate swimwear will be launched, for the first time worldwide, at Fashion Exposed," Schimana said. "As we have had an extraordinary response from consumers nationally following editorial exposure in Famous Magazine (February), Woman's Day (April), Cosmopolitan (May issue out now), we know consumers are looking for the brand, so in order to get the brand out nationally to lingerie retailers, Fashion Exposed is our best vehicle."
Retailing from $89.95 to $99.95 with cup sizes from DD to J and back sizes from 28 to 40, Curvy Kate bras offered "the total package of fabulous fit, and being functional yet fashionable and very competitively priced here in Australia," Schimana said.
"Secondly, there is a vast size range with sizes simply not available from Australian brands. Thirdly, the models used in Curvy Kate marketing are real girls. Each year a competition is run in the UK to find new Curvy Kate models. One of our current models is actually a teacher - no other brand uses real, everyday girls for their marketing. The retailers' reaction to the brand has been wonderful, they have all been so terribly excited about the brand as it ticks so many boxes for them; great price, great fit, variety in range and great marketing."
