A recent raid on a Prada boutique in Sydney's Martin Place was planned, with key items targeted for theft, according to Sydney police. The Italian luxury label's outlet was ransacked at about 3.00 am on Tuesday November 24, after both glass doors of the front entrance were shattered.
Raiders were said to have targeted "new line stock" - including handbags and leather accessories - some of which retail for upwards of $3000. CCTV footage of the attack was taken, however all offenders were wearing heavy disguises including dark clothing and hoodies, making identification difficult.
The raid is the first of its kind in NSW in several months, with police confirming there had been "very little action on the smash and grab front lately".
All offenders escaped southbound on George Street in a blue Subaru WRX. The vehicle, bearing the registration XGW41X, was stolen several weeks ago from Sydney's north shore area.
Detective Inspector Brad Hughes confirmed the raid was organised to target key items in the brand's ladies handbags and fashion accessories offering.

We had the Susan holmwood store in Queen Street Woollahra burgled during the night last July. Many of the stock items stolen were obviously targeted and they definitely knew the stock that was going to be available- All the clothing items, cashmere jumpers, leather accessories and jewellery in the shop were taken although the less expensive woolen scarves were left behind and the cashmere ones, all gone. The stock rooms upstairs were carefully cleared of the smaller sizes, more commonly sold leaving the larger behind. They were so obviously quick, professional and mindful of what was to be targeted. They had done their homework. Very scary. We have upped our security although after the prada raid every store is obviously is still at risk.
