Stellar streetwear from Blu Galaxy

23 August 2010

Streetwear specialist Blu Galaxy will be offering visitors a fresh hit of urban style when it takes to the stands at Fashion Exposed this weekend.

Fergal Mackay and partner Breda Mackey founded Blu Galaxy after visiting Australia in 2009 and spotting a gap in the streetwear market. The pair, who had both been in the clothing industry since the age of 16, went home to Ireland, obtained the rights to one of the biggest and fastest growing streetwear companies in Europe, sold up their businesses and moved their family to Melbourne. Having discussed the venture with Fergal and Breda, it wasn't long before Pat Hennessy, a sales development manager at Diesel Group in Ireland, also saw the potential of their plan and bought into the company, selling up in Ireland and re-locating to Melbourne.

Co-founder Fergal Mackey said the company, which sells leading brands including Crosshatch, Ripstop, Smith & Jones, Nippon, Xplicit and Done & Dusted, hadn't looked back since founding.

"With almost 200 independent stores now stocking one or several of our brands, Blu Galaxy is fast becoming a credible and reputable supplier to the Australian market, providing excellent margins and sell through," Mackey said.

"At Fashion Exposed, we are hoping to both increase our customer base and increase the percentage of our existing customers' spring/summer and autumn/winter budget, which we have already achieved in the preceding two seasons."

Blu Galaxy will showcase its ranges at Fashion Exposed from 29-31 August at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
